How We’re Taking On COVID in 2021

Picture of the word "family"

Happy New Year! Things have been difficult, but we’re here to dive right into 2021. Since last March, we’ve concentrated on helping our little bugs adjust to their changing world. Some strategies have included:

  • Introducing masks into dramatic play
  • Having age-appropriate conversations about COVID in groups
  • Requiring all school-aged children mask while they are at Ladybug to maintain consistency with their schools
  • And more

But we’re also thinking about what comes next. Our goal is to continue preparing our Ladybug Family for the changing COVID environment and to help our students cope with everything going on.

As of right now, we aren’t planning on requiring masks for any other students at Ladybug. However, we’re asking all Ladybug Preschool parents to provide a mask for their preschoolers as a precautionary measure. Our plan is to use our group times to:

  • Teach the children how to properly wear masks
  • Explain what the masks are for
  • Answer any questions our preschoolers may have

Some of our parents are choosing to have their preschoolers wear masks when out in public. Our aim is to prepare our preschool-age children through education and lower any potential anxiety they may feel about wearing masks at Ladybug or anywhere else.

COVID-19 Vaccinations & Staff Safety Measures

Minnesota is continuing to distribute COVID-19 vaccinations. Mr. Stephen was lucky enough to get his 1st shot recently! With President Biden unveiling his COVID-19 strategy recently, we’re hopeful that people will be vaccinated quickly and some normalcy will return sooner than later.

In addition to getting vaccines as soon as possible, we’re making sure our staff is taking the following steps:

  • Constantly washing their hands
  • Staying 6 feet apart from co-workers
  • Wearing PPE at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Wearing masks while in the building.
  • Staying home when sick or feeling off.
