5 Affordable Ways To Enjoy A Minnesota Spring Break StaycationPosted on March 7, 2019 by Ladybug Child Care Center
This winter has been rough, but it’s almost over! We’ve officially entered Spring Break season and everyone’s ready to have some fun. Unfortunately, if you’re a parent with little bugs running around, a vacation isn’t always realistic.
If your Spring Break is more staycation than vacation this year, you might be looking for things to keep your children entertained. Here are a handful of ideas for you.
1) Outdoor Adventure
Things have been cold and messy lately, but the temps are rising! If the weather is still cold, put on those snowsuits and enjoy a day of sledding and making snow angels. If the weather is warm enough, head to the nearest playground or go on a hike.
2) Around The House
There has yet to be a generation of kids that dislikes building forts out of blankets, pillows, and boxes. Little ones love using their imaginations, and building a fort can make for an exciting adventure. Another great way to spend the day inside is to have scavenger hunts around the house.
3) Movie Day
Going to a movie theater is super expensive these days. The solution? Bring the movie theater experience to your home! Open up the candy, make some popcorn and hot cocoa, and spend a day watching your favorite family movies. Feeling creative? Maybe help the kids put on their own play or make a movie with your smartphone.
4) Como Zoo
Need to get out and about? The Como Zoo & Conservatory in St. Paul is fun and free! Kids love animals, and the zoo is a great place to get some exercise. If you’re looking for something a little more tropical, check out their indoor gardens.
5) Minnesota Children’s Museum
The museum isn’t free ($12.95 per person, children under the age of one get in for free), but it’s a valuable experience for the price. The Children’s Museum is a place that lets your kids have fun while learning. There are a bunch of activities where children can run around and play an use their creativity.
