3 Unique Gardening Projects for KidsPosted on May 27, 2020 by Ladybug Child Care Center
Summer is here! Well, almost. But the weather is warm, the trees and grass are green and the plants are blooming!
If you want an entertaining activity for your little bugs this summer, we recommend gardening.
Gardening is a fun project that helps children develop their concentration, patience and work ethic.
But instead of the standard gardening methods, let’s try some more unique approaches. Here are a few possibilities:
1) Plant a Rainbow
Kids love rainbows for their bright, energetic colors and because they seem so magical.
Find flower seeds in any variety of colors and help your child plant them in the shape of a rainbow.
When those flowers start flourishing and your little ones see the dynamic colors, their little eyes will light up!
2) Garden in Uncommon Containers
Who says you have to grow plants in the ground or in planters?
Give your child an unusual container and try something quirky! Here are a few options:
- Old shoes
- Discarded toys
- Plain pots with faces drawn on them (Or decorated any other way!)
This strategy can make things more fun and it can also be a good option for gardening inside.
3) Grow a Pizza Garden
Everybody likes eating pizza, and it can be just as delightful to make one using homegrown toppings and seasonings!
Here are a few vegetables and herbs you can grow at home:
Pretty cool, right? Call it your “pizza garden” and the little ones will love it.
