3 Tips For An Awesome Halloween

Picture of a cute toy ghost standing on top of a pumpkin.Trick or treat!!!! We’re super excited about Halloween. It’s one of the best holidays for kids and it can create so many fun memories. We want you and your little bugs to have a great time this year, so here are a few recommendations to get the most out of Halloween.

1) Plan Your Route

Your neighborhood might have a lot of young families trick or treating and it could be very crowded. Or maybe your neighborhood doesn’t have many houses that participate in Halloween. In these cases, it might be a good idea to plan on trick-or-treating in a different area with better walkability or more participants (or a neighborhood with better candy 😉).

Want to visit your family or friend’s houses? Make sure to time it out appropriately so you don’t wander too long and risk having a grouchy little one.

2) Consider The Weather When Picking A Costume

Minnesota can get really cold in late October. Oh sure, there are exceptions and we occasionally hit those 60-degree days. But it’s safer to prepare for temperatures in the 40s, maybe even the 30s.

Our advice is to take the fun pictures of the costumes in the house and then add layers when it’s time to trick-or-treat. Kids may not want to wear a jacket or mittens, but health and safety take priority. Just remind them that it’s okay for Iron Man and Captain Marvel to dress warm!

3) Check Out Local Trunk Or Treat Events

Churches and businesses hold “Trunk or Treat” events during the weekends surrounding Halloween. These events are often free and have candy, fun games, face painting, and more. Here are a few options coming up:

If you don’t plan on going trick-or-treating on Halloween night but still want something fun to do, the Mall of America is having its own event on October 31st. This might also be a good idea in case we get a lot of rain or snow.

These are only a few of the events happening in the next few weeks. Search on Google for, “Trunk or Treat near me,” and see what fun options come up!
